Which terms apply

These Terms describe the Camfold website, free allowance and paid licences. The sections about direct licences apply to licences bought through Creem for the direct-download Mac and Windows editions and the Microsoft Store Windows edition. The Mac App Store sections apply to purchases through Apple. The download source alone does not determine the payment provider; check the checkout and receipt for your purchase.

Before purchasing, you must have the opportunity to read and accept the applicable Terms. Your purchase is subject to the version accepted for that purchase and the offer shown before you pay. No separate acceptance step is required when first opening Camfold. Downloading or using the free allowance alone is not treated as express acceptance of these Terms, apart from Apple’s own licence acceptance during App Store acquisition. The free allowance described below is available without a purchase.

You must have legal capacity to make the purchase. If you buy on behalf of a business, you must be authorised to enter into the agreement for that business.

Microsoft’s applicable Store terms govern obtaining Camfold through Microsoft Store. Creem’s buyer terms apply to purchases it sells, including the paid unlock in the Microsoft Store Windows edition. Apple’s terms and applicable usage rules apply to App Store transactions. Our licence agreement is with you and Aurowl Studio s.r.o.; the seller’s transaction terms govern its role in the purchase. These Terms do not reduce rights you have against that seller under applicable law.

If a clause conflicts with a mandatory legal right, that right takes priority. For the App Store edition, Apple’s required licence and usage rules take priority over conflicting general licence wording here.

What Camfold does

Camfold helps you review and organise photos and videos on your computer. It can analyse media, suggest groups and names, and move files according to the choices you confirm.

Features, supported formats and system requirements can differ between operating systems, app versions and distribution channels. Check the information for your edition on the download page and test your own files with the free allowance before buying.

The free allowance

Scanning, reviewing and previewing are available without buying a licence. The free allowance includes 200 cumulative move units and has no time limit.

One photo or video together with its recognised companion files counts as one move unit. Extra copies of exact duplicates are not part of the free allowance: they are set aside in a DUPLICATES folder and can be moved only with a paid licence. The allowance is therefore not always the same as the number of files on disk.

Undo does not replenish the allowance. Reinstalling Camfold or clearing its settings or history is not intended to restart it. After the allowance is used, a paid licence is needed for further moves beyond that allowance; scanning and reviewing remain available.

Buying a direct licence

Direct purchases are made through Creem, which acts as the merchant of record. Creem handles the payment, applicable transaction taxes, receipts and refunds for those purchases. This also applies to the paid unlock in the Windows edition obtained through Microsoft Store. Its buyer terms also apply.

The direct Camfold 1.x licence costs €29.99 (EUR), including VAT, through Creem. The price, currency and applicable taxes are shown before payment. A Camfold 1.x direct licence is a one-time purchase with no subscription or automatic renewal. The price shown for your purchase does not change because we later change the price for new customers.

We begin digital supply immediately following a successful purchase, through a licence key or activation details. Keep your receipt and licence information. Contact support if payment succeeds but you cannot obtain or activate your licence.

Your direct software licence

Aurowl Studio s.r.o. grants you a non-exclusive licence to use the entitled Camfold 1.x software for personal or professional work, including work on clients’ media. You receive permission to use the software; ownership of Camfold’s software and intellectual property remains with its respective owners.

One direct licence covers one person on up to two activated computers. Those computers may be two Macs, two Windows computers, or one of each. The two device slots cannot be shared between independent users.

A business may purchase a licence for one designated user. Other users need their own licences. This permission does not grant a shared workplace or floating licence.

The licence has no fixed expiry date and includes all released 1.x updates. You may keep using your entitled version on compatible systems, subject to the lawful termination grounds below. This does not promise compatibility with every future operating system or require you to buy a later major version.

Activation and replacing a computer

A direct licence needs an internet connection for initial activation and licence management. Once Camfold has stored a valid permanent licence grant, ordinary paid use can continue offline without a recurring subscription check.

Replacing a computer does not transfer your licence to another person. Release an old activation before activating another computer if both slots are occupied. Contact support if a lost or broken computer prevents this.

Reinstalling the app, changing the operating system or losing protected licence storage may require activation again. Keep your receipt and licence details so we can help check your entitlement. The same two-computer limit continues to apply.

Transfers and sharing

We do not offer voluntary transfers, gifts of an already assigned direct licence, or reassignment to another user. This includes changing a business licence’s designated user. You must not sell, rent, sublicense or share a licence except where applicable law gives you a right to do so.

These restrictions do not exclude mandatory rights concerning the lawful resale or transfer of software. If you rely on such a right, the legal conditions for that transfer still apply. The two activation slots do not create two separate licences to resell.

App Store transfers and permitted sharing follow Apple’s applicable rules.

Microsoft Store downloads

The Windows edition obtained through Microsoft Store uses Creem checkout for its paid unlock. Microsoft distributes the app; it does not sell or process that Creem purchase. Downloading the app through Microsoft Store does not itself buy a paid Camfold licence.

The direct software licence, two-computer limit, activation and computer-replacement rules above also apply to this edition. A valid direct licence can be used with the direct-download Mac and Windows editions and the Microsoft Store Windows edition, within the same two slots. It does not unlock the Mac App Store edition.

For app or licence problems, contact Camfold support. For a Creem purchase refund, follow the Refund Policy. Microsoft’s refund process does not handle purchases billed by Creem. Microsoft’s own terms apply to its Store services. Check the Store listing for the installation, compatibility and update arrangements of the package you download.

Mac App Store purchases

The Mac App Store edition uses Apple’s purchase and restore system. Its price and transaction terms are shown by Apple before purchase. The paid Camfold 1.x unlock is a one-time purchase, not a subscription.

An App Store purchase covers the Mac App Store edition. It does not include a Windows licence or activation of the direct-download edition. A direct licence key does not unlock the Mac App Store edition.

The App Store licence is non-transferable except where applicable law requires otherwise. It permits use on compatible Apple-branded devices you own or control as allowed by Apple’s applicable usage rules. The direct licence’s two-computer limit does not apply to App Store ownership. Apple’s rules also govern permitted business, volume-purchase and associated-account use.

Restore an eligible purchase through the app using the relevant Apple Account. Optional Family Sharing for the paid unlock is not offered at launch. This does not override any sharing or access rights that Apple’s applicable rules require.

Additional Apple licence terms

For the Mac App Store edition, this licence is between you and Aurowl Studio s.r.o., not Apple. Aurowl Studio s.r.o. is responsible for Camfold and its content.

Aurowl Studio s.r.o. provides support and handles app-related product, regulatory and privacy claims. Apple owes no app maintenance or support. Aurowl Studio s.r.o. also handles investigation, defence, settlement and discharge of third-party intellectual property claims concerning Camfold or your permitted use.

If Camfold fails an applicable warranty, you may notify Apple for a refund of its purchase price. Apple’s further warranty obligations are limited as law permits; other app warranty claims, losses, liabilities, costs and expenses are Aurowl Studio s.r.o.’s responsibility under applicable law.

You must comply with applicable third-party agreements. You confirm that you are not in a country under a US government embargo or designated by it as supporting terrorism, and are not on a US government prohibited or restricted-party list.

Apple and its subsidiaries may enforce this agreement as third-party beneficiaries upon your acceptance. Direct questions or claims to the contacts below.

Updates and future versions

Your Camfold 1.x purchase includes the 1.x updates we release. It does not automatically include version 2.0 or another future major version. Any paid major upgrade will be a separate, optional offer with its price and terms shown before purchase.

We do not promise a release schedule or every requested feature. We remain responsible for updates, including security updates, that applicable law requires. A necessary fix cannot be made chargeable merely by labelling it a major upgrade.

We recommend installing relevant updates and reading their compatibility information. If a required update needs action from you, we will explain that action and any relevant consequences of not installing it.

Your files and backups

Your photos, videos and other media remain yours or their existing owners’. Using Camfold does not transfer ownership of them to Aurowl Studio s.r.o. You need appropriate permission to access and organise media belonging to someone else.

Camfold can move original files. We recommend keeping an independent backup, reviewing the proposed changes, and trying a small selection before organising a large library. These are practical precautions, not conditions for receiving statutory remedies.

Undo depends on the available operation history, protected app data and the relevant file state. Deleting that history or changing files outside Camfold can prevent recovery. An interrupted operation or a storage problem can also require attention. Undo cannot guarantee recovery in every situation.

Grouping, duplicate detection, dates, locations and quality suggestions can be incomplete or inaccurate, especially when source metadata is missing or incorrect. Review suggestions before confirming changes. This explanation does not excuse a failure to meet the functionality, accuracy or care required by the purchase agreement or applicable law.

Permitted use

You may use Camfold for lawful personal and professional work within your licence. Keep your licence information secure and do not knowingly allow unauthorised use.

You must not:

  • share licence keys or paid access beyond the applicable licence and platform rules;
  • bypass activation or paid limits, or falsify purchase or licence records;
  • redistribute, rent or sublicense Camfold without permission or a legal right to do so;
  • attack, disrupt or obtain unauthorised access to our website or licensing services;
  • copy, modify or reverse engineer Camfold beyond what our permission, applicable law or the relevant third-party component licence allows.

Nothing here prohibits activities protected by law, including applicable rights to make necessary backup copies, study software or achieve interoperability. Third-party and open-source components remain subject to their own licences.

Support and complaints

For technical problems, purchase delivery or licence issues, email support@camfold.app. For legal enquiries or a formal request to resolve a complaint, email info@camfold.app, or use our postal address or telephone contact below.

Include enough information to identify the problem and, where relevant, your purchase. Do not send payment card details or licence keys in public messages. Screenshots are optional; check them for private information before sending them.

We provide email support without a guaranteed response time, round-the-clock service or a fixed release timetable. This does not extend legal complaint deadlines or remove any support, correction or other remedy required by law.

Withdrawal and refunds

We do not offer a general change-of-mind or satisfaction-guarantee refund. You can use the free allowance to assess Camfold before buying. That allowance does not replace or reduce your statutory rights.

For EU consumers, a distance purchase normally carries a 14-day withdrawal right, subject to legal exceptions. For immediately supplied digital content, that right is lost only when the applicable legal conditions are met: you expressly consent to supply beginning within that period, acknowledge losing the withdrawal right when supply begins, supply begins, and the required contract confirmation is provided.

A general acceptance of these Terms, payment or use of Camfold alone does not replace those requirements. Where the conditions are not met, any applicable withdrawal right remains. Rights available under other applicable laws also remain.

Creem processes refunds for its purchases. App Store refund requests follow Apple’s process. Neither our policy nor the amount of media you have organised removes a refund or other remedy that the law requires. See our Refund Policy for the procedure.

Defects and consumer rights

Camfold must meet the contractual and legal requirements that apply to your purchase, including the description and functionality offered before payment. Mandatory rights concerning supply, conformity, necessary updates and remedies remain available.

Depending on the applicable law and circumstances, remedies may include correcting a defect without charge, a price reduction or ending the purchase contract and receiving a refund. Contact us about app problems; you may also exercise your rights against the seller responsible for the transaction.

These rights are separate from any voluntary refund offer. We do not impose a universal claim deadline or require you to give up a legal remedy because you used the free allowance.

Liability

Each party is responsible for loss or damage as provided by applicable law. These Terms do not set a fixed monetary cap on Aurowl Studio s.r.o.’s liability.

The file-safety advice above does not exclude liability for defective software or remove consumer rights. Nothing here excludes responsibility for fraud, intentional misconduct, death or personal injury, or other liability that the law does not allow us to exclude.

Suspension and termination

We may suspend or terminate an affected licence for fraud, a reversed payment or a material breach of the applicable licence. For a breach that can be fixed, we will normally explain the issue and allow 14 days after notice to fix it before terminating the licence.

We may act immediately where needed for fraud, an urgent security threat, a legal requirement or a reversed payment. Action must be proportionate to the issue. A disputed payment is not, by itself, proof of fraud. Contact support if you believe action was taken in error so we can review it.

Ending paid entitlement means you must stop using the paid rights that ended. It does not authorise us to delete, withhold or take ownership of your photos or videos. Any remaining lawful free allowance or recovery function is governed by its own availability. Apple may separately act under its own terms.

We do not reserve a right to cancel a permanent licence arbitrarily. You can stop using Camfold at any time; doing so does not itself create a refund entitlement.

If we retire direct activation

If Aurowl Studio s.r.o. deliberately retires the direct-licence activation service, we will provide existing paid customers with a way to activate their entitled Camfold 1.x version without that service before the planned closure.

This commitment concerns the direct activation service we operate. It does not promise continued operation of Apple’s or Microsoft’s services or compatibility with every future computer or operating system. Your mandatory legal rights remain unchanged.

Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms for future purchases or new optional offers and will show the updated date on this page. A website edit alone does not retrospectively reduce the version entitlement, device allowance or other agreed rights of an existing purchase.

Any change affecting an existing agreement must have a lawful basis and follow the notice and consent requirements that apply. New paid major versions may have separate terms, which you can review before deciding whether to buy.

Governing law and disputes

Slovak law governs this agreement with Aurowl Studio s.r.o. If you are a consumer, this does not deprive you of mandatory protections available under the law of your country of habitual residence where those protections apply.

The courts with jurisdiction under applicable law can hear disputes. We do not require consumers to bring every claim in Slovakia or agree to compulsory private arbitration. The seller’s own transaction agreement may separately address disputes concerning its role.

For an eligible consumer dispute with Aurowl Studio s.r.o., you may first ask us to resolve it using the contacts below. If we reject that request or do not respond within 30 days of its sending, you may seek alternative dispute resolution through the competent body. For matters within its remit, this includes the Slovak Trade Inspection (SOI). Other competent bodies are listed by the Slovak Ministry of Economy. This does not prevent you from using available courts or other legal remedies.

Privacy

Our Privacy Policy explains the personal data used for the website, purchases, licensing and support, and how Camfold handles local media. These Terms do not create consent to optional marketing or other processing that requires a separate choice.
